She decided to spend Christmas in Heaven with her Lord. She was born in Ionia to Elmer and Edna (Vincent) Buxton March 9, 1915. Waiting at Heaven’s gate were Elva’s parents, her husband, Raymond (Red) Martin, her daughter Bonnie Hampton and her granddaughter Pamela Peabody. Elva is survived by her children, Charles (Barbara) Constantine, Barbara (Art) Kauffman, Evelyn (Fran) Preston, the Rev. David (Mary) Martin, the Rev. Joseph (Mary) Martin, Deborah (Bill) DeBruyne, Thomas (Nicki) Martin; one sister Margaret Zander; three brothers, John (Carol) of Lansing; Vincent (Dorothy) Buxton, of Detroit, and Verner Buxton of Oregon; and 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Elva already knew how richly blessed she was. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Manton Free Methodist Church, in Manton, on U.S. 131, with a luncheon following. Elva’s sons, Rev. David Martin and Rev. Joseph Martin will officiate her funeral services. Following cremation, Elva’s ashes will be placed next to her husband and daughter at the Highland Park Cemetery on Main Street in Ionia.
