Gladys B. Martin, 85, of Ionia, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2003.  She 
was born on July 17, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Reynold R. and 
Ella Eulla (Wheeler) Mortensen.  Mrs. Martin was a member of Zion United 
Methodist Church and the Ionia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She 
served as an aid for many years at Rather and Boyce Elementary Schools.  

She married Lewis E. martin on January 1, 1939 and together they shared 62 
years of marriage until his passing on December 22, 2001.  She was also 
preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Burrows; brother, Shelby Mortensen; 
sister, may Goody.  

Surviving are a daughter, Vicky Burrows of Ionia; grandchildren, Kelli (David) 
McClain of Ionia and Eric (Tammy) Burrows of Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, 
Joshua, Daniel and Kaitlyn McClain of Ionia, Danielle, Meagen, Elyse and 
Jordan Burrows of Oklahoma; brother, Robert (Kay) Mortensen of Big Rapids.

A memorial service was conducted by the Rev. Donald Graham, Pastor, Monday at 
Zion United Methodist Church.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may 
be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, in memory of Mrs. Gladys B. 
Martin.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook 
Chapel, Ionia.
