Mrs. Lila M. Martin, 81, former resident of route 1, Powell highway, Ionia, 
died late Friday evening at Ionia Manor where she had been a patient four 
years.

Born at Palo, March 4, 1892, she was the daughter of Henry and Hetty Patrick 
Pew and attanded Palo schools.

November 8, 1911, she was married at Palo to Thomas I. Martin.  They made 
their home on the Martin family farm on Powell highway 62 years and celebrated 
their golden wedding anniversary in 1961.  They retired from farming in 1966 
and her husband Thomas died October 25, 1972.

She was a life member of Palo chapter OES and honorary member of the Hetty Pew 
Past Matrons club.

Surviving are two sons, Maurice of Lyons and Henry of Fenville:  daughter, 
Mrs. Maxine Griswold of Sparks, Nev.; six grandchildren and 12 great-
granchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 pm at Leddick funeral home.  Rev. Charles 
Fullmer of First United Methodist church will officiate and interment will be 
at Palo cemetery.
