The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, February 22, 1967


Earl Martin, 72, of 638 Bagley street, died Wednesday morning in Ionia County 
Memorial hospital.  Mr. Martin was born December 24, 1894, the son of Mr. and 
Mrs. Joseph Martin, and lived his entire life in this area.  

He was married to Edith Carlson Martin who preceded him in death December 18, 
1938.  June 27, 1942 he married Catherine Deshone.  He worked for C & O 
Railroad 32 years and did his military service with the National Guard.

Surviving beside his wife Catherine are two daughters, Mrs. Arnold Ralston and 
Mrs. Charles Hyland of Ionia; two sons Raymond of Ionia and Larry of Benton 
Harbor; three step-daughters Mrs. Grand Browning and Mrs. Norman Brawley of 
Saginaw and Mrs. Joey Jackson of Clarksville; one sister, Mrs. Neita Killion of 
Ionia; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home with 
Rev. James Kendall officiating.  Committal services will be at the funeral home 
with temporary interment in Highland Park mausoleum.  Family will receive 
relatives and friends Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
