Sentinel-Standard - Tuesday, March 8, 1977

IONIA- John H. Martin, 89, formerly of 161 East Main, died Monday evening at 
Ionia manor.

He was born May 12, 1887 in Ionia county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Martin.

He married the former Gara Lewis  in Ionia June 29, 1942. She preceded him in 
death in 1972.

Mr. Martin was the former owner and operator of the Ionia taxi service and ran 
the first school bus in Ionia.

He was a member of the Ionia Masonic lodge and First Christian church.

Survivors include one son, Howard of Mecosta; five grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren. 

Services are Thursday at 3:30 pm from the Myers-Roetman funeral home.

Burial is in Balcom cemetery.

the family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home, Tuesday and 
Wednesday 7 to 9 pm.

A memorial fund is being established.
