About two weeks ago she was taken ill with a fever, and a physician was called who attended her and she was in a fair way for recovery up to Saturday evening when she was feeling unusually well, and told her sister, Mrs. John Sefbel, who with her husband, is boarding at the hotel, that she thought she would relish a good supper and requested some beef steak, baked potatoes, etc. Mrs. Sefbel went down stairs to have the supper prepared for her, leaving Miss Martin n the room alone. She was absent from the room less than ten minutes, but on her return her sister lay in almost exactly the same position in which she left her, dead. She had apparently passed away without a struggle. Not the least noise was heard by persons who were in the adjoining in room, where there was only a board partition between. The theory of the physicians is that when the fever left her, her vital system collapsed for want of strength to rally. The deceased was about thirty years of age, a daughter of Anthony Martin of Westphalia, and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. Her remains were taken to Westphalia for interment, where the funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon and were attended by an immense concourse of sympathizing friends.
