Ionia County News – Thursday, 8 March 1923
Mrs. John Fortuno passed away Wednesday night, February 28, after a two weeks 
illness with pneumonia.  Mrs. Fortune leaves four sons and two daughters, also 
her husband, Mr. Fortune, to whom she was married last July.  She was 78 years 
of age.  The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Union church in North 
Plains and interment was made in North Plains Cemetery.

MRS. FORTUNE, NORTH PLAINS WOMAN, IS DEAD
Victim of Pneumonia; Funeral Will Be Held Saturday at Home at 1, at Church at 
2 o’clock

Mrs. John Fortune died at her home in Muir at 12 o’clock today.  Death was due 
to pneumonia.  The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 o’clock at the home and 
at 2 o’clock at the North Plains church.  She was 78 years of age and is 
survived by her husband, three sons, and four daughters.  She was married to 
Mr. Fortune last July.  Her maiden name was Mary Alvina Link.
