Frank Mason Passed Away Saturday After a Hard Struggle With Pleuro-Pneumonia. A dark cloud fell over our city on Saturday last when the sad intelligence was passed from lip to lip that genial, whole-souled Frank Mason had crossed the dark valley of the shadow of death to penetrate the mysteries of that bourne from which no mortal e’er returns. Frank A. Mason was born in Jamestown, N.Y., January 19, 1851, and died in Belding, Michigan, April 29, 1905. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Cynthia Mason, his brother’s widow, who lives to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband. He was converted under the ministrations of Rev. A.J. Wheeler at Paris, Michigan, and joined the M.E. church, in the fellowship of which he continued faithful unto the end. A member of Ivanhoe Tent No. 24, K.O.T.M.M., he left an insurance of $2,000 for his grief stricken widow, and as a token of respect for the deceased brother, the Maccabees attended his funeral in a body. Mr. Mason was a man of noble and generous nature who always had a kindly word and a friendly greeting for all of his friends and he will be greatly missed in the community, for verily, a good man has gone to his rest. The funeral, which was held at his late residence on Sunday afternoon, was largely attended, his pastor, Rev. J.W. Sheehan, officiating, using for his text the comforting words found in John 14: 1-3. Mesdames Hudson and Friedly sang, “Crossing the Bar.” The floral offerings were very beautiful and paid a silent tribute to the respect in which he was held by his many friends. On Monday morning Mrs. Mason left with the remains for Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvana, where he will be laid to rest beside the loved ones gone before, John Arnwine going as far as Toledo with her. A most touching feature of the sad affair was noticeable when the body was being taken to the depot, the hearse being drawn by the team which in life Mr. Mason had carefully looked after.
