The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 4, 1981

Cortland L. Mason, 59, of 834 Bridge St., Portland, died Saturday at his 
home.  He was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Chester, Mich., the son of Orrin and 
Jessie Chapman Mason.  He was retired from the Allied Manufacturing Co. of 
Eaton Rapids.  He was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife Marian; one son, Frank, of Greenville, Miss.; three 
daughters, Mrs. Edna Maki of Mesa, Ariz.; and Mary and Elaine Mason of 
Lansing; one step-daughter, Mrs. Dianna Sandy of Grand Rapids; and eight 
grandchildren.

His mother, Jessie Mason of Charlotte, survives him as well as three brothers, 
James of Eaton Rapids, Russell of Mason, and Leon of Newport News, Va., and 
three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Swan and Mrs. Marjorie Puffenberger of Eaton 
Rapids and Mrs. Esther Koch of Homer.

Scripture rosary services will be held at Neller Funeral Home in Portland 
Monday at 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. 
Donald Weber officiating.  Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.  Bearers will 
be: James Mason, Henry Puffenberger, Homer DeWaters, Steven Fortuna, Gayle 
Thurlow and Bruce Ackerson.
