Ruth Elizabeth Mason, 82, of Ionia passed away April 24, 2011 in Ionia. She was 
born Nov. 28, 1928 in Berlin Twp., the daughter of John and Edith (Chamberlin) 
Cochrun. She graduated from Lake Odessa High School. Ruth married Max Mason 
Aug. 19, 1949 in Berlin Center Church. She owned and operated Mason Centennial 
Farms with her husband Max for all their married life. The farm previously had 
been her families farm. Ruth was involved in 4-H and grandstand events at the 
Ionia Free Fair for over 30 years. She was a member of Berlin Center Church and 
a previous member of Berlin Center Grange. Ruth and Max wintered in Arizona for 
about 30 years.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Max Mason of Ionia; 
children, Marilyn Palmer of Ionia, and Margie Mason of Arizona; brother Roger 
(Doris) Cochrun of Saranac; grandchildren, Travis (Nikki) Palmer of Ionia, 
Wendy (Kyle) Bouck of Holt, Jennifer (Rob) Istvan of Maryland, Jim (Brandy) 
Palmer of Hudsonville, Jenny Mason of Maryland, Beth Mason of Ionia, Jessica 
Mason of Ionia and Allisa Baker of Arizona; great grandchildren, Mykal, Chloe, 
Ryan, Dylan, Robby, Lindsey, Eric, Jameson and Sydney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Dorothy Bennett.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Pastor Den Slatery officiating. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. Visitation 
will be held 1 a.m. Saturday until time of funeral service at the funeral home.

Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Ruth’s name to Berlin Center 
Church.
