Max M. Mason, 87, of Ionia, passed away May 14, 2014.  He was born July 23, 
1926 in Bushnell Twp. the son of Milo and Helen (Petersen) Mason. 

Max married Ruth Cochrun on August 19, 1949 at the Berlin Center Church.  She 
preceded him in death on April 24, 2011.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 
during the World War II era.  Max farmed all his life and worked as a foreman 
for General Tire.  He owned Max Mason Farm Supply Deutz Dealer and was an 
Exalted Ruler of the Ionia Elks Club and ASCS Director. 

Max is survived by his children, Marilyn Palmer of Ionia, Mike (Patrice) Mason 
of Ionia, Mark (Audrey) Mason of Ionia, and Margie Mason of Arizona; 
grandchildren, Wendy (Kyle) Bouck of Holt, Jennifer (Rob) Istvan of Maryland, 
Jim (Brandy) Palmer of Arizona, Travis (Nikki) Palmer of Ionia, Jenny (Jarrad) 
Mason-Scott of Ionia, Beth Mason of Ionia, Jessica Mason of Ionia, and Allisa 
Baker; sisters, Marvel Linnan of Greenville, Ruth Reed of Greenville, and 
Marguerite Summers of PA; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Robby, Lindsey, 
Eric, Jameson, Sydney, Mykal, Chole, and Sterling.  He was preceded in death by 
his parents; wife, Ruth Mason and sister, Marion. 

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment at Balcom Cemetery.  
Visitation on Thursday, May 22, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral 
home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Max’s name to the Ionia 
Area Hospice.
