Feb. 4, 2017 MASON Sheldon Neal "Butch" Mason, 75 of Arab, Alabama, died Sunday, January 22, 2017, He was born on Dec. 7, 1941 in Ionia, Michigan, son of Glen Roy and Verna May (Wetherbee) Mason. Sheldon married Judith Ann McDonald on Nov.18, 1960 in Pattonville, Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He later went to work for the Michigan Department of Corrections until his retirement in 1994. Beloved husband of 56 years, Butch is survived by his wife Judy of Arab, Alabama. Daughters are Kathlene Fisher (Mark) of Jefferson, GA; Stephanie Lemke (Kurt) of Grant, Al; and Beth Ann Zeigler (John) of Saranca, Mi. Grandchildren are Michael Fisher (Neva) Heidi Huesing (Andrew), Benjamin Lemk (Kristen),, Emily Kalman (Ryan), Trent James Chipman (Meghan) and Brian Chipman. Great grandchildren are Olivia, Quinn and Caden Lemke, Havanna and Abraham Huesing, Finley Chipman, Colin fisher and Christopher Zeigler. Sisters are JoAnn Edwards (Keith) and Jean Peterman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Lee Mason. Butch enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with hi family and spoke fondly of the winters spent in Golf Shores. Alabama with his wife and the special friendships made at Fishermen Baptist Church in Bon Secour during his retirement years. The funeral was a 2 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Arab heritage Memorial Chapel with Dr. Clint Landry officiating. Burial was in Arab memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing. Pallbearers were Michael Fisher, Benjamin Lemke, Trent James Chipman, Brian Chipman, Ryan Kalman and David Gorby. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
