PHIL MASON 1942-2017
Phil Erwin Mason, age 74, of Ionia, passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017.

He was born on Oct. 9, 1942, the son of Ford and Naomi (Cantine) Mason.

He married Patricia Agostini on June 9, 1973, in Muir. She passed away on Dec. 
15, 2003. Phil, a life-long resident of Ionia County, worked and retired from 
TRW in Portland. He loved cars, drag racing, farming, singing with the Shiloh 
Community Church Choir and recently learned to play the piano.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Alan) Cooper, Kristi (Ed) Sharp, 
Tressa (Tony) Makley, Brian Swainston, Ford Mason, and Troy Barna; 
grandchildren, Shane Hurley, Justin Sharp, Mason and Alexa Cooper, Shalea (Alex) 
Backe, Austin and Preston Makley, Patricia and Ford Mason Jr., and McKenzie 
Barna; great-grandson Lincoln Backe; brother Gerry (Paula) Mason, and nieces and 
nephews. Phil is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Mason, and 
parents, Ford and Naomi Mason.

The Funeral survive will be officiated by Pastor Ken Harger at 11 a.m. 
Wednesday, Sept 6, 2017, at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. The family will 
receive friends, Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Phil 
will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Patricia at North Plains Cemetery.

In honor of Phil Mason, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Community 
Church Food Pantry (shilohee.org/serve/food-pantry). Arrangements are entrusted
