Mason, 86, of East Lincoln avenue, died at the Ionia Convalescent home Tuesday afternoon at 1:20 where she has been a patient since the latter part of August, 1947. She was born March 23, 1861, in Ronald township. Her maiden name was Nancy E. Jennings. On August 1, 1888, she married Fred T. Mason. They have resided in this vicinity ever since that time. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. ------------ Funeral services for Mrs. Fred T. Mason, 85, who died at the Ionia Convalescent home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, will be held from Myers funeral home Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock with the Rev. Adam J. Westmaas officiating. Interment will be in the Mausoleum at Highland Park cemetery. Please omit flowers. She was born in Ronald township March 23, 1862, with the name of Nancy E. Jennings. She was principal in the fourth ward school now known as Jefferson school. She later was principal, and taught mathematics in Central school, the old junior high school, for approximately 15 years. Mrs. Mason was a well-known bridge expert, and had studied under Professor Culbertson. She taught bridge in this vicinity for many years. She received many honors when she entered a national bridge tournament in Chicago. A member of the Presbyterian church, which she joined with her husband 10 years ago, she presented the church with a lovely piano. She was also a past grand organist of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving her is her husband, Fred T. Mason; one nephew, L.G. Bentley, of Richmond, Va., and two nieces, Mrs. Dale Wilde of Jackson, Tenn., and Mrs. Nelta Raymond, of Portland, Ore.
