GLENN D.MATHEWS, IONIA ATTORNEY, DIED TUESDAY

Glenn d.Mathews, well known Ionia Attorney and chairman of the public trust 
commission, died Tuesday afternoon at 5:10 o'clock in St.Lawrence Hospital 
following a heart attack. He was suddenly  stricken about 4 o'clock Tuesday 
afternoon while in the basement of the State Capitol building. Mathews was known 
to have been suffering from a heart ailment but his death was entirely 
unexpected.

Mathews, who was 47, was an old-time Democrat, having been one of the Stalwarts 
of the party who carried on when interest in the party was at a low ebb in 
Michigan.

He had served as Ionia City Attorney for several terms. he was a long-time 
member of the Ionia County Bar Association and a director of the Michigan State 
Bar Association. he had also served as president of the Ionia-Montcalm Bar 
Association. For 12 years prior in 1932 he was chairman of the Ionia County 
Democratic Committee.

He served overseas during the World War and was a member and past commander of 
the Ionia American Legion Post. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon 
at 2;30 o'clock from the home at Ionia. Burial will be at Highland Park.
