Duncan Mathison, aged 70, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. V. McCormack, in Danby, Friday evening, following a week’s illness from pneumonia, and the remains, accompanied by two sons, Wm. Mathison, of Hamiota, Manitoba, and Edward, of Bounty, Sask., were shipped to Kincardine, Ont. for burial. Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mrs. McCormack Tuesday afternoon by Rev. A. E. Wynn, of the Sunfield M. E. church. Mr. Mathison was a native of Lochalsh, Scotland, but came to this country with his parents at the age of three years. He had resided in the province of Ontario, Canada, most of the time since, although he spent several years in Marquette county, this state. He was financially interested in the great Canadian northwest and was deeply interested in the rapid development of that section. A year or so ago he came to Danby to make his home with his daughter. He is survived by four sons and two daughters, his wife having preceded him in death a number of years ago.
