The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, March 7, 2007
Marilyn Matthews age 83 of Ionia, formerly of Saranac who also lived in 
Arcadia for many years, passed away peacefully March 3, 2007 in Ionia.  She 
was born September 1, 1923 in Wakarusa, Indiana the daughter of James and 
Flossa (Mishler) Penney.  She married Leon Fredricks who preceded her in death 
in 1971.  She married Arthur Conelisse who preceded her in death.  She then 
went on to marry Maxworth Matthews who preceded her in death in 1999.  Marilyn 
was a member of Saranac VFW, Saranac American Legion Ladies Aux.  She enjoyed 
traveling the world.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter; Terry Sheaffer of Ionia; grandchildren 
(doll babies), Teresa and Greg McKay of Grand Ledge, Denise Sheaffer of Ionia; 
great grandchild, Angela McKay of Grand Ledge and special friends, Mary and 
Gordy.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev. Kendall Harger officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives Friday 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Anyone wishing may make memorial 
contributions in Marilyn’s name to Alzheimer’s Association.
