Wave, Thurs. March 19, 1954 Former Resident Passes Away Mrs. Pearl Leslie Mattison, 85, former local resident, passed away at a Farmington Hospital, early Tuesday after a long illness. A native of Barry County she spent her girlhood in Middleville and was employed by the Middleville Sun for a number of years. Her husband, Walter F. Mattison, a druggist, passed away in 1913 while they resided at Kalamazoo. Mrs. Mattison and family moved to Lake Odessa and later to Lansing where she resided for forty years and was employed by the State Dept. of Conservation for about 25 years, before retiring. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church of Lansing, and the Royal Neighbors Lodge. Surviving are a son, Wilfield of Lansing; a daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Mary) Slucter of Farmington; five grandchildren; a nephew, Lester Coykendall and niece, Mrs. Cecil (Marjorie) Hershiser, both of Lake Odessa. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Estes-Leadley Funeral Home at Lansing with burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Middleville.
