Mauren Portland - Richard, "Dick" Robert Mauren, age 85, of Portland passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. He was born on December 30, 1932 in Lansing, the youngest son of Fred and Catherine Rose Mauren. Dick was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and graduated from Portland High School in 1951. On June 21, 1951 he joined the U.S. Air Force. He went to Sampson AFB in Geneva, NY for Basic Training and then was off to B-29 School in Shepherd Field, TX. He later was stationed around the country and the world. After his discharge from the Air Force, he attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was employed by Capital Airline in Pellston, MI., where he met his wife, Fran. Dick also worked for the family newspapers and later at T.R.W. in Portland where he eventually retired.He loved baseball, woodworking, and watching WW II movies. He is preceded in death by his parents's his wife of 55 years, Fran; sister Margaret Schrauben, and brother John Mauren. Surviving are his children, Mark (Julia) Mauren, Anne Mauren, Mike (Kathy) Mauren; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Richard Schrauben; sister-in-law, Clare Mauren; and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 am. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be provided by the VFW Post # 4090. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Thursday at the Lehman funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and Scriptural Service will be at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
