Aug. 29, 1994 Harold H. May Harold H. May, 75, of Portland died Aug. 20, 1994, at his home. Mr. May was born in Portland Nov. 5, 1918, the son of William and Anna (Bohr) May. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Purple Heart recipient; a member of Portland VFW Post #4090; and a retired employee of the Portland Co-op. Survivors include four daughters, Jean (Emerson) Auge, Leola (Arthur) Ferguson, Elizabeth (Gale) Bigford, and Kathy (Douglas) Staines, all of Portland; one son, Leo (Kerry) May of Portland; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert May of Temple City, Calif., Fred (Germaine) May of Portland, Carl (Germaine) May of Portland, Leon (Jerry) May of Portland; and five sisters, Katherine May of Battle Creek, Dorothy Barker of Portland, Mary Ann (Leo) Spitzley of Woodland, Laurine (Robert) Spitzley of Mulliken, and Sister Joan May of St. Johns. The Rosary was recited Aug. 23. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 24 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Portland, with Rev. Larry King officiating. Interment followed at North Eagle Cemetery in Eagle. Graveside services were conducted by Portland VFW Post #4090. Casket bearers were grandsons. Contributions May be made to the Ionia Area Hospice. Arrangements were made by the Gorsline-Runciman Neller Chapel in Portland.
