Portland Review - Sunday, March 6, 2005

Carl J. May, 71, of Portland passed away Feb.25, 2005.

He was born in Portland Township April 12, 1933 the son of William and Anna 
(Bohr) May. Carl was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and retired 
from General Motors in 1991 after 39 years of service. He was a veteran of 
the United States Army serving in Anchorage, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Ann Spitzley, 
Elizabeth May, Ruth Spitzley and Katherine May, brothers, Harold, William 
and Robert May.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Germaine (Schafer), children, Janet 
(Chris) Pung of Flushing, Carolyn (Bardell) Adams of Portland and Duane 
(Miho) May of Gregory; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alaina and Jacob Pung, 
Brycen, Brayden, Brooke and Bryana Adams, and Kiana May; sisters, Dorothy 
Barker of Lansing, Laurine (Robert) Spitzler of Mulliken, and Sister Joan 
May, SSJ of Grand Blanc; brothers, Fred (Germaine) May and Leon (Geraldine) 
May, all of Portland; sister-in-law, Marie May of Laverne, Calif.; brother-
in-law, Donald Spitzler of Pewamo; many  nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 2 at St. Patrick Catholic 
Church with the Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal was at Portland 
Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 
Portland.

Society of Michigan.
