May, “Bob” as he was known to his family, friends and acquaintances, passed away Oct. 30 at the age of 82. He was born in Portland July 29, 1922 to parents William and Anna Bohr-May. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School prior to joining the Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. and later fought at Iwo Jima as a machine gunner on an armored personal carrier. Following his honorable discharge Bob moved to the San Gabriel Valley where he began his career as a plumber. He retired after 28 years of service with Los Angeles County. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; sons, John (Elisabeth) and James; grandchildren, Christopher and Ian May; sisters, Dorothy Barker, Laurine (Robert) Spitzley and Sister Joan May, SSJ; brothers, Fred (Germaine), Carl (Germaine) and Leon (Geraldine); and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Nov. 5 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monrovia. Burial followed at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills.
