She was born on November 8, 1906 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of John "Joe" and Theresa Fedewa, one of 9 children born to the Fedewa family. At age 4, Etta's family moved to a farm in Chesaning where she attended and graduated from Our Lady Catholic School. After graduating she worked for a family in Lansing, for a short while, as a nanny/housekeeper, and later attended and graduated from Lansing Business University. She worked at St. Lawrence Hospital, in admissions, for 29 years, retiring in 1979. She married Theodore R. Mayhew on June 20, 1929 and together they raised 4 children. After the death of her husband Ted in 1971, Etta moved to Portland to be ear her son Bob's family. Etta was a very dedicated parishioner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Portland. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; sons, Jack, Robert "Bob", and Theodore "Ted"; adored daughter Marye Heiler; grandson, Matthew Heiler, brothers, Al and Bill Fedewa; sisters, Bertha Emery, Estella Birchmier, and Annette Constine. Surviving family members are daughters-in-law, Carolyn (Robert) Mayhew, and Bernard Fedewa and Vern (Rosemary) Fedewa; sister, Marion Bishop; grandchildren, Robert (Deena) Mayhew, Laura (Doug) Pung, Jamie Mayhew; and Mike "Mickey" (Lisa) Heiler; step-granddaughter, Tery (James) Holly; great grandchildren, Alex and Nathan Pung, Samantha and Kylie Heiler, and Lierin and Kellan Holly. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
