Accident Occurred While Threshing at His Farm – Was Just Leaving Scaffold to Descend to Floor – Loose Plank Cause of Catastrophe – Was Former Resident of This Section. The body of Horace McArthur was brought here for burial last Saturday from Broomfield township, near Remus in Isabella county. His death was a tragic one and came with no warning to his friends. Last Friday was threshing day at the McArthur farm and the straw was being put in the barn, being first put on the scaffold where Mr. McArthur was pushing it into a big bay with a fork. It was dusk when the work was competed and he started to the edge of the scaffold to descend a ladder to the floor but he stepped on the end of a loose plank and was thrown to the floor, striking his head on a large beam in the course of his descent. He breathed only a few times after being found. Deceased was 64 years of age and was well known in and around Lake Odessa, having formerly lived on what is known as the Arnie farm west of town. He leaves beside a wife, three brothers, William of Woodland, James of Sebewa and Charles of Remus, and one sister, Mrs. Dr. Kilpatrick of Woodland, to mourn his untimely death. The funeral was held from the U.B. church in this village last Saturday, Rev. Yost officiating. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery.
