Howard G. McArthur, 80, a farmer, died Saturday evening at United Memorial 
Hospital following a six years illness.  Born April l7, 1876, in Oakfield 
Township, Kent county, the son of Frank and Jane McArthur, he moved with his 
parents to his present home in Grattan Township when six years of age.

Mr. McArthur was a member of Grattan Masonic Lodge, OES, Venus Chapter, Grattan 
Grange, Columbian Club, Good Fellowship club and Merrymakers Club.  He had 
served two years as township treasurer.

On March 21, 1918 he was married to Ethel Longstreet in Otisco Township.  She 
survives.  Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (LaZelle) Hendrickson, 
Coral; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Elkins and Mrs. Vera Godfrey, Belding, one 
brother, Ray McArthur, Grattan Township, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Huffman Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Harley Zull officiating.  Burial will be in Ashley Cemetery.
