Leona McArthur, 93, of Belding, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her
home.  She was born Sept. 11, 1906, in Kalkaska, the daughter of Daniel and Mary
Davison Vipond.  Leona taught in area country schools and later ran McArthur’s
Park at Big Pine Island, retiring in 1970.  She was a life member of the Order
of The Eastern Star and a member of the Washington Club.

On Sept. 24, 1931, she married Roy T. McArthur in South Bend, Ind.  He preceded
her in death on June 20, 1984.  She was also preceded in death by her parents,
one brother, six sisters and three grandchildren.

Leona is survived by her children and their spouses, Gwen and Dale Stanton of
Belding, Charles and Kay McArthur of Cowan; six grandchildren, Todd, Wendy,
Brenda, Kevin, Scott, Mischelle, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding,
with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating.  Burial will be in Ashley Cemetery. 
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Memorials may be made
to the Alvah N. Belding Library.
