Pennie L. McBride, 38, of Ionia, passed away Monday, April 19, 1999, at her 
home following a courageous battle with cancer.  Pennie lee Bodman was born 
Sept. 7, 1960, in Ionia, the daughter of Chester L. and Mary E. (Nielsen) 
Bodman.  She grew up in Ionia and attended Ionia schools.  She worked for 
Gibson’s and Arnold’s Machine Shop.  Pennie was married Oct. 23, 1992, in 
Ionia, to Steve McBride.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; two daughters, Christina Jones and 
Tracy Jones of Ionia; two sons, Rodney Jones and Ricky Wakefield of Ionia; 
three grandchildren, Maxine Partridge, Dylan Tran and Brittany Mutschler, all 
of Ionia; four brothers, Robert Bodman, Richard Bodman, Harold (Jessica) 
Bodman and Chester Bodman, all of Ionia; one sister, Shirley (Joe) Shattuck, 
of Ionia; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  Pennie was preceded in 
death by her parents, one sister, Carol Wakefield and one brother, Roy Bodman.

Funeral services for Pennie L. McBride will be held Friday, at 11 a.m. at the 
Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, Ionia, with the Rev. Kirk Starkweather, 
Ionia Church of the Nazarene, officiating.  Visiting hours will be Thursday 
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich 
Street Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer 
Society.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
