ELIJAH McBRIDE OLD MATHERTON RESIDENT PASSES
Funeral Services Were Held Last Saturday For Pioneer

Elijah McBride, who for many years has been a resident of Matherton, died at his
home, January 8, 1930, aged 67 years and eight months. He was born in Fulton county,
Illinois and came to Michigan when six years old. In 1883 he was married to Carrie Fenn and since
that time has resided in Matherton.

Besides his widow he left six children, three daughters and three sons; Mrs. Nora
Topper of Sumner, Michigan; Mrs. Beatrice Berry and Mrs. Myrul Rock of Matherton, Georgie and

Grenville of Matherton and Ford of Lansing. Mr. McBride also left two brothers,
George of Matherton and Charlie of Saline, Kansas and one sister, Harriet of Matherton.

The funeral service was held Friday at the Matherton United Brethren church, with
Rev. Floyd N. Drake officiating. Burial was in the East Plains cemetery.
