McBrien, 81, of Ada went to be with his Lord and Savior September 20, 2013. He was born April 21, 1932 in Detroit, MI the son of James A. and Marguerite I. (Peterson) McBrien. He married Florence Krohn August 15, 1953. James joined his wife of 60 years in heavenly bliss one week after her passing. James was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lowell and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lansing. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. James then went on to work for the Department of Defense for 30 years until his retirement. He is survived by his sons: Edward (Ann) McBrien of Illinois and Robert (Sherri) McBrien of Rockford; grandchildren Christa, Katie, Amy, Mallory and Matt McBrien. Sisters-in-law Geri (Dick) Shultz of Dewitt and Lyn Beth (Robert) Scott of Ohio. Along with his wife, Florence, James was preceded in death by his infant son James "Marty" McBrien and his brother-in-law John Krohn. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at noon at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lowell with Pastor Joseph Fremer officiating. A wake celebrating James' life will immediately follow. Visitation will be on Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund.
