Ionia Sentinel, Monday, March 9, 1948

Miss Minnie McCann, 80, died at the home of her nephew, Dr. John J. McCann, 212 
East Main street, at 3:30 a.m. Sunday following an illness of several months.

Minnie G. McCann, daughter of Andrew and Mary McCann, was born at Westport, 
Ont., June 14, 1867.  After the death of her parents she moved to Chicago, 
where she lived until June, 1913.  At the death of Mrs. John J. McCann of Ionia 
she came here to care for the household of her nephew, Dr. McCann.  Miss McCann 
was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church, and was active in its various 
societies.  For many years she was a member of the Women’s Literary club and 
was always keenly interested in matters affecting the good of the community.

She was the youngest and last survivor of a family of nine children.  Her last 
remaining sister, Mrs. Ellen Kane, of Stanleyville, Ont., died January 15, 1948.

The funeral services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul church on Wednesday 
morning at 9:00 o’clock, with the Rev. John S. Fons officiating.  Burial will 
be in Mt. Olivet cemetery

Rosary will be recited at the residence at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
