He was born the son of Howard and Inez (Annibal) McCarn on August 10, 1921 in Lansing. Mr. McCarn served in the United States Army during World War II. Edward married the former Marie Coates on September 6, 1947. He worked for 33 years at Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Ionia, retiring in 1980. Ed was in the CB Club in Ionia and also was a ham operator. He was also a member of the Ionia Amvets, as well as the First Christian Church in Ionia for over 40 years. Edward loved his dog and also like to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Marie McCarn; children, David (Kay) McCarn, Dean McCarn, Daryel (Theresa) McCarn and Diane Rogers, all of Ionia; grandchildren, Tracie, Robert Heather, Stephanie and Carl; sister, Grace Brauher of Middleton. The memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor, of Shiloh Community Church at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel, 220 Rich St., Ionia. Interment will be in the spring at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
