                            BERTHA L. McCARTHY

IONIA-Bertha L. McCarthy, 86, of 804 1/2 W. Lincoln, Ionia, died May 4 at Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 13, 1899, in Clinton County the daughter of Fred and Lilly 
(Jones) Tubbs.

She lived in the St. Johns area most of her life.

She married Stephen McCarthy in Florida; he preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Ray Adams of Ionia and Russell McCarthy of Howell; three 
daughters, Maxine Johnson of Ovid, Betty Caprow of Ionia, and Faye Reeves of 
Oakley; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 
one brother, Clyde Tubbs of Florida.

Two sons, Leon and Garnett and three brothers, Elmer, Glen and Henry Tubbs, 
preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home 
in St.Johns.

Burial will be in Stillson Cemetery in Ovid, the Rev. Kenneth Reeves 
officiating.

The family will be at the funeral home today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
