          VERA M. McCARTNEY
   LAKE ODESSA - Vera M. McCartney, 90, of Lake Odessa died Saturday in Pennock
Hospital, Hastings.
   She was born n Sebewa Township, the daughter of David and Ida Stinchcomb Figg. 
She was preceded in 
death by her husband William C. McArtney, in 1957.
   Surviving are three sons, C. Hale of Lake Odessa, Robert W. of Lansing, and
Robert C. of Asheville, N.C.; 
one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Frances) Long of Charlotte, and Mrs. Russell (Ione Bryans)
Fletcher of Muir, a 
member of the McCartney family during her residence in Lake odessa.
   Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Grace (McCartney) Gilson of Lake
Odessa; Mrs. Ethol 
(Gearhart) Figg of Vermontville; and Mrs. Edrie (Pull) McCartney of Grand Ledge; 10
grandchildren and five 
great grandchildren
   Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the .Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel,
the Rev. Stephen Keller of 
Central United Methodist Church of Lake Odessa officiating.
   Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
   A memorial for the Lake Odessa Ambulance Service has been established in the care
of the funeral chapel.
