MCCARTNEY LAKE ODESSA-Evelyn H. McCartney, 74, of Lake Odessa passed away Sunday, August 7, 1994 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Hastings. She was born August 4, 1920 in Maple Rapids, the daughter of Hollis & Evelyn (Benson) Chase & with her family moved to Lake Odessa in 1924. She graduated from Lake Odessa High School & Western Michigan University after which she taught music for two years in Muskegon. She then moved back to Lake Odessa where she joined her family in operating the Lake Theatre. Evelyn married C.Hale McCartney, May 31, 1948 in Lake Odessa. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church at Lake Odessa, United Methodist Women's Club. She took great pride in having served her church as its choir leader for 28 years. Evelyn is survived by her husband C.Hale McCartney; two sons, Michael R. McCartney of Lake Odessa & Mark W. McCartney of Memphis, Tennessee, mother, Evelyn H.Chase; one sister, Bette Makley of Lake ODessa. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9 at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 10, aat 1:00 p.m. at the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Reverend Emmen Kadwell officiating. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church or the Hospice Association.
