Ionia Sentinel Standard, 26 Jan 1931

Mrs. J. A. McCarty, 84, 847 West Main street, died at her home Sunday evening 
at 10:30 after a long illness.  Private services will be conducted by Dr. Paul 
L. Stewart at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Interment will take 
place in the family lot in Woodard Lake cemetery.  Friends, please omit 
flowers.  Those wishing to view the remains may do so by calling at the home 
any time before the hour set for services.

Mrs. McCarty was born in Wisconsin, but came to Ionia county when a young woman 
and had lived in this vicinity since.  Prior to moving to Ionia she was a 
resident of Ronald township.  Her husband died 15 years ago.

A daughter, Mrs. Byron Yeomans; a brother, Dr. Frank Hargraves, of Palo and a 
sister, Mrs. Judevine, of Ronald, survive.
