MCCAUL HASTINGS - Mrs. Mabel M. McCaul, 84, of Lake Odessa died on June 19. Mrs. McCaul was born on Feb. 18, 1896, in Freeport, the daughter of Bert and Rosa Whiters Slater. She attended Freeport School. She was married to A.T. (Tony) McCaul on Jan. 10, 1917 in Ionia. the McCaul's lived and farmed in Freeport and Clarksville until 1922 when they moved to a farm near Lake Odessa. They owned and operated the Lake-O-Maid Dairy Farm from 1949-55. Mr. McCaul died in 1964. She was a member of the Lake Odessa Congregational Church, the Tupper Lake Extension Group and the Lake Odessa Farm Bureau. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Davis Meyers of Albuquerque, F.M. and Mrs. Mike (Lois) Goodemoot of Lake Odessa; one son, Burton of Lake Odessa; three brothers, Keith Slater of Ionia, Forest Slater of Lake Odessa and Richard Slater of Clarksville; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Mary) Peterson of Clarksville and Mr. Phebe Geiger of Saranac; two sisters-in law, Mrs. Frances Slater of Clarksville and Mrs. Glendora Slater of Saranac; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Services were held on June 22 in the Pickens-Koops Funeral Home with the Rev. John Doud officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
