Mrs. W.H. McCausey, Long a Teacher, Dies at the Age of 68. Mrs. W.H. McCausey died at her home in Orange township early Friday morning, after a long illness, of liver trouble. She was a teacher in Portland public schools prior to her marriage, and had taught in rural districts before coming to this village. Her maiden name was Rosa Slade. She would have been 68 years old had she lived until Saturday. Miss Slade was born at Rochester, N.Y., and after graduating she taught school in that vicinity. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Slade, came to this section about 35 years ago, she following seven years later. She married Henry McCausey March 30, 1905. She became a Christian early in life and the example she always set for her students was one that could not fail to leave a lifelong impression. She tenderly cared for her mother during a long illness and then looked after the comfort of her aged father. She was considerate of others and will be greatly missed, not only in her own home, but by all who were her intimate associates and familiar with her character. She is survived by her husband, by a brother, Wm. Slade, Lockport, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Bickle, Sebewa, and Mrs. Emma Fraser, Portland. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday afternoon, Rev. R.S. MacGregor, of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Portland cemetery.
