Lake Odessa Times - Thurs. October 19, 1905

                             DIED IN THE PHILLIPINES.

Last Saturday S F Deatsman, of Danby, received a note from Boyce McClelland of 
Highland Springs, VA, saying that his brother, Benton Ernest McClelland, died of 
Cholea on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Manila, P.I.

Ernest was born in Sebewa and lived there until about three years ago, when he 
then took a business course at Valparaiso College and afterward went to Chicago 
where he worked something more than a year.Last January he went to Manila as a 
government stenographer at a salary of $100 per month, and has worked there, in
the Bureau of Forestry, ever since.His age was 21 years, 1 month, 21 days.

The sad news comes as a terrible shock to his many friends. he was a universal 
favorite and his popularity was well deserved.
