The Portland Observer, Thursday, February 14, 1924

Word was received in Portland last Thursday of the death of Mrs. Catherine 
McCliman, mother of Mrs. Mary Bates, of this village.  She was 92 years old 
and had lived in the vicinity of Hubbardston for 60 years.  Owing to the 
illness of Mrs. Bates, she was unable to attend the funeral which was held 
Saturday, although Mr. and Mrs. WM. H. Young attended.  Besides Mrs. Bates she 
is survived by another daughter, Mrs. D. J. Navin, of Hubbardston, and one 
son, John, who resides on the farm.
