The Portland Observer, Wednesday, May 24, 1899
John McClintock and wife were former residents of Ionia township and Lyons 
village; in fact they were among the county’s oldest settlers.  About a month 
ago they went to Chicago to reside with a son.  They had resided there but 
three weeks when the father was taken ill and died.  The son brought the 
remains to Lyons for burial and got back to Chicago just in time to start back 
with the remains of his mother, who had died while he was burying his father.
