Hit By Auto Truck, He Is Injured Internally Spends Considerable time in West But Fails to Procure Benefit; Dies Just 13 Weeks After His Return. Frank G. McClurg, only son of Dr. and Mrs. David McClurg, formerly of Portland but now of 2795 Woodward Ave., Detroit, passed away at 6:15 Sunday afternoon at the home of his parents, of tuberculosis of the spine and lungs. His death occurred just 13 weeks form the night he arrived home from Tucson, Ariz., where he went late in the fall in the hope of obtaining benefit. His last days were full of terrible suffering borne without a word of complaint. About a year ago Frank was unfortunately injured in the back by being struck by an auto truck while crossing one of the thoroughfares in Detroit. The impact evidently produced an internal injury of some sort, for the young man’s health began to decline from that very date. Last September he went to Albuquerque, N.M., but failing to procure benefit there left that city two months later to go to Tucson, Ariz. In January he returned to Detroit to linger on to the end. During all of his conscious hours his heart and mind were in Portland, the home of his boyhood days, and the cards and letters sent from here by old friends and school-mates were a source of great joy to him during the dark and weary hours immediately preceding his death. Frank was born at Port Rowan, Ontario, Canada, August 4, 1890, and at the time of his death was 25 years, eight months and 12 days old. He came to Portland with his parents when but a small lad and graduated later from the local schools. Since his parents have been located in Detroit he has held a number of good clerical positions in different railroad offices there. He was a fine young man – always pleasant, agreeable and gentlemanly, and his untimely demise has occasioned keen regret on the part of everyone who knew him. Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the late residence, the body being laid to rest in the family mausoleum at Roselawn Park cemetery on Woodward Ave., between Royal Oak and Birmingham.
