The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, March 14, 1956

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Evelyn 
McColl, 91, who died Monday afternoon in an Ionia convalescent home.  She was 
the mother of the late Harry Campbell, former Ionia drug store owner.  
Services will be held at Rogers funeral home, Big Rapids and burial will be in 
Big Rapids cemetery.

She was a resident of Grand Rapids and Big Rapids for several years before 
coming to Ionia.

Mrs. McColl was born June 16, 1864 in Potter county, Pa., the daughter of 
Charles H. and Augusta Lewis.  Her first marriage was to David Campbell.  
After his death she was married to the Rev. R. J. McColl, a Congregational 
minister of Big Rapids, August 31, 1905 at Rockford.  Both preceded her in 
death.

She later left Big Rapids and moved to Grand Rapids where she resided 27 
years.  She has been in the Ionia convalescent home for two months.  She was 
active in church work at Park Congregational church, Grand Rapids, and at Big 
Rapids Congregational church where the McColl circle was formed.  The group 
was named after Mr. and Mrs. McColl.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harry Campbell of Harrison; three 
grandsons, Robert and Charles Campbell of Lansing, and Donald of Bellevue, and 
a granddaughter, Mrs. Max Eckert of Ionia.
