McConnell, 85, of 320 Summitt St., Saranac, died Saturday morning at Ionia County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born Feb. 18, 1894 in Ingham County, the daughter of James and Waitie Eggleston. She attended Stockbridge schools and married Levi Brown in 1923. He died in 1930. She then married Fred McConnell in April 1942 and they lived in the Lyons area since 1939. They moved to Saranac in January of this year. [Transcriber’s Note: The dates are as printed in the obituary.] She was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, was a charter member of the Golden Years Senior Citizens of Muir, a member of Ionia County Gleaners, past president of WSCS, and choir member of the Lyons Untied Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Fred; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Hamilton of Medostia, Calif. and Mrs. Rosalie DeYoung of Saranac; one step-daughter, Mrs. Maxine Reynolds of Bellevue; one step-son, Robert McConnell of Bellevue; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Osborne of Jackson; seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lyons United Methodist Church, Rev. Edward Mendenhall of Saranac Community Church and Rev. Howard McDonald of Lyons United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Plains Cemetery. Until noon Tuesday, Mrs. McConnell will repose at the Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir.
