Born Jan. 12, 1894 in McBrides, he was the son of Henry and Drucella McConnell and was employed at Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co. He retired from Wohlert Corp., Lansing, as a heat treater in 1964. He had lived in Lyons since 1929, moving there from Palo. He was married to Ada Brown in 1942; she died in 1979. He was a member of Lyons United Methodist Church and the Golden Years Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are a son, Robert McConnell of Battle Creek; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Francis Hamilton of Modesto, Cal.; Rosalie DeYoung of Saranac; and Maxine Reynolds of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Hilliard of Greenville. Funeral services will be Friday morning from the Lyons United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bette Dobbie officiating. Burial will be in North Plains Cemetery. Arrangements have been made by Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir.
