Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Richard McCord, 78, of Ionia and Saranac passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, in 
Ionia.  He was born Feb. 11, 1924 in Ionia, the son of Robert and Blanche 
(Rowland) McCord.  He married Betty McKay March 19, 1948, who preceded him in 
death in 1994.  He was a World War II Veteran and a member of Saranac American 
Legion.  He worked as a carpenter all his life, building several homes in the 
Saranac and Ionia areas.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Jackson of Fowler; sisters, Doris 
(Robert) Montgomery, of Ionia, and Bernice (Arthur) Goodier, of Virginia; 
sister-in-law, Beverly McCord, of Ionia; and grandson, Matt Jackson of Ionia.  
He was preceded in death by his son, Craig McCord in 1998; and brothers, Bud 
McCord and Royce McCord.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia with Rev. Scott Otis officiating.  Interment Easton Cemetery.  Anyone 
wishing may make a memorial contribution to Heartland Health Care Center or 
Parkinson’s Foundation.
