McCord, 48, suffered a fatal heart attack at his West Main street residence Tuesday evening and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ionia Memorial hospital. He was born in Ionia September 27, 1927, the son of Robert and Blanche Rowland McCord. He attended schools in Ionia and graduated from Ionia high school with the class of 1945. He entered the service at the end of World War II serving with the Air Force in South America. Following his discharge from the air force, he returned to Ionia to make his home. For the past 14 years he has been employed at the Ionia State hospital and Riverside Center. Survivors include his wife, Donna; two sons, Patrick, a student at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, and Russell at home; two daughters, Michelle, of Lowell and Rhonda at home; mother, Mrs. Blanche McCord of Ionia; two brothers, Eldon and Richard McCord of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Goodier of McLean Va., and Mrs. Doris Montgomery of Ionia. Services will be Friday morning at 11 am from the Leddick funeral home with Rev. Lloyd Walker of the LeValley United Methodist church officiating. Interment will be at the Easton cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends and relatives Thursday from 7-9 pm. A memorial has been established for either the Heart Fund or the Cancer Society.
