The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, December 30, 1978

A former Ionia resident, Robert S. McCoy, Sr., 81, of Route 1, Mecosta died 
Friday morning at his residence.  He was born in Ohio March 1, 1897, son of 
Alex and Ella McCoy.  The family moved from Ohio to McBain and in 1915 to 
Ionia.  He lived in Ionia until retiring and moving to Tubbs Lake ten years 
ago.

He was employed in Ionia for many years by Banhagel Construction company.  
Before retirement he was self-employed as block layer and cement finisher.

Survivors include his wife, Myrl of Tubbs Lake near Barryton; two sons, Lewis 
and Robert Jr. of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Fern Montgomery of Ionia; twelve 
grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday from the Leddick funeral home.  Rev. 
Ronald Dow of First Christian church will officiate.  Committal services will 
be at the funeral home with later interment in Easton cemetery.  The family 
will be at the funeral home Saturday from 7-9 p.m. to receive friends and 
relatives.
