June 7, 1928 Mrs. Samuel McCoy Taken by Death Ionia was saddened Wednesday evening by the death of Mrs. S.A. McCoy, 138 East Main street, who died at her home at 9 o'clock following an illness which has extended over a period of six weeks and since Mr. and Mrs. McCoy returned from the west, where they had spent most of last winter. When she was first taken ill she was able to continue her social activities and keep up her instructions with her class in painting. A week ago her condition was aggravated and she went to bed but continued to grow worse and Wednesday afternoon, a consultation of doctors was called and later in the day she seemed a little improved but in the evening an unexpected turn for the worse caused her sudden demise. Mrs. McCoy was born in Princeton, Ill. in 1877 and came to Ionia county to live shortly after her marriage 20 years ago. She was married in Biloxi, Miss, and after spending 10 years on different farms in Orange township they moved to Ionia. Her circle of friends was unlimited and wherever she went the exemplified a noble Christian life. She was a student of new thought, held membership in the Rebekah lodge and gave a great deal of her time to the interests of the Church of Christ Denomination and joined nearly all of the functions. Besides her husband, two sisters and a brother survive her. they are Mrs. Frank McCoy, of Blackwell, Okla., who will arrive in Ionia some time Friday; Mrs. Nettie Booth, of Joansburg, South Africa and Harry Osborn of Los Angeles, Cal. A brief service will be held from her at the house Saturday afternoon and this will be followed by the funeral service at the Church of Christ at 2:30. Additional Comments: Services: Sat.
