McCreery Dead. Many people in Ionia county will hear with sad hearts of the death of Col. Wm. B. McCreery, at his home in Flint, on the 9th inst. He was taken with paralysis about two months ago. He partially recovered, but a few days ago a change took place for the worse. He was colonel of the 21st Infantry, in which were three companies from Ionia county. He was one of the best soldiers of the many gallant men who went from this state, and was greatly beloved by all the men of his command. Since the war he has occupied many important civil positions, among them state treasurer and U.S. consul at Valparaiso, Chili. The funeral takes place at Flint to-morrow, and will be attended by some of his war comrades from this section of the state.
