McCrumb, who had made his home in that township almost continuously since his birth, more than 58 years ago. Bright’s disease was the cause of death, Mr. McCrumb having suffered with this affliction for about a year. Death occurred at an early hour Tuesday on the nicely improved 160- acre farm 1½ miles west of the Compton church, known as the John Gardner homestead. Mr. McCrumb was born in Danby township January 30, 1855, and with the exception of a few years spent in Clinton county, he had been a resident of Danby all of his life. His wife, who survives him, was formerly Miss Ida Quackenboss, of Wacousta. The couple have one daughter, Dawn, living at home. Besides the widow and daughter deceased is survived by two brothers, Thurston, of Wellsboro, Pa., and Milo, of Danby, as well as a sister, Mrs. Mary Kramer, of Hastings. Deceased was a member of several fraternal orders, and carried insurance policies amounting to $4,000. At the time of his death he owned 240 acres of nicely improved land in Danby. Mr. McCrumb was a life-long republican, and while he always took an active interest in politics, he never sought a public office, declaring it would take too much time away from his other work should he be successful at the polls. He was a man of influence in his community and highly respected. Funeral services were conducted at the late home this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:00, by Rev. A. E. Wynn, of Sunfield, and the remains were interred in Danby township cemetery.
